‘Needling’ or Dry Needling is becoming increasingly popular as a technique for treating a range of musculoskeletal conditions.

WHAT IS DRY NEEDLING?

Dry needling is another form of soft tissue treatment that is a useful adjunct to your manual therapy. Acupuncture and dry needling techniques are similar. Dry needling targets trigger points that are a direct source of pain and aims to restore pain free, normal movement.

The positive effects of dry needling may include decreased pain, increased flexibility and mobility. It can also assist in the relief of associated nerve symptoms such as pins and needles, numbness and headaches.

Dry needling is often used as a form of trigger point therapy, and is an effective way of alleviating soft tissue tension in the presence of sensitivity. At Merrylands Physiotherapy dry needling is used in conjunction with a range of other hands on treatment modalities to better facilitate your recovery.

If you wish to try Dry Needling as part of your treatment, please advise our receptions staff and they will arrange an appointment with an appropriate Practitioner.
